Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Kule'a Farm's traditional kava is an all-natural soothing and calming beverage powder made from the roots of the kava plant (Piper Methysticum); once the roots are harvested they are sun dried and ground into powder, nothing is added or taken away. Our kava is grown on the islands of Fiji, Hawaii, Vanuatu and Tonga. Packaged in resealable plastic bags. To prepare kava we recommend you place the kava powder into a strainer bag and mix with water; this is the way it is done in the Polynesian Islands of the S. Pacific today.

This product is amazing. I feel great, almost drunk. I read that there are no side-effects, I'll post another review if there are. I recommend this product to anyone who struggles with stress, and wants to stay away from unnatural prescription drugs. Try it, with the right kind of strainer, and you will be a believer too!

Being a first time user, I did not expect to `feel` anything, however, I had a nice pleasant experience of mild euphoria. I`ve read that this increases in intensity with each subsequent drinking session. I look forward to trying this product some more. :)

i expected to get pretty buzzed after drinking large quanities of kava but that never happened. maybe it was because i filtered it with a coffee filter but i used alot of kava per drink. my mouth, throat, and stomach went numb and i did relax a little bit but not enough to drink it all the time. the taste isn't horrible but if youbuy it to try it get the filter thingforit its like $1more and worththe hassle of coffeefilter.

This Kava does have a nice, bearable taste (although it is still offensive to most first time tasters). I have passed around a baggie out this to all of my friends, and I have a general consensus from a pool of at least a dozen people: Everyone said the effects of relaxation were noticeable, even when simply chewing on a pinch of it. Everyone was a little disgusted at the taste the first time they tried it (describing it as dirt), but everyone came back fro more, grew accustomed to the taste, and loved the effects of mouth numbing.

The preparation of this product is useful because it can be consumed in a few different ways. Chewing on it is effective because the enzymes in saliva help to draw out the kavalactones (active 'relaxant' ingredients). South Pacific islanders often prepared their island beverages by chewing on the powdered root, and then spitting the saliva mixture into the water. Mixing the kava with milk is probably more effective than with water because the kavalactones are lipid soluble, and completly insoluble in water.

Also, this product is probably safer than most others, because the products that were causing the concern about liver toxicity contained pipermethysticine, which is only found in the stems and leaves of the kava plant. This powder is pure root, and no stems, peelings or leaves as it clearly sates on the package.

This is a great product, and i would recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars A kick for kava, but not my cup of tea.   July 22, 2007

If you like Kava and want Kava that really works as opposed to the capsules of extract that I hear are virtually ineffective then get this; it will do what Kava is supposed to do... but personally, I'm not a kava fan and if you are unfamiliar with Kava, for the price of this stuff, maybe you better take it from me: Kava is extremely gross, tastes likes wood chips, and I drank a large serving of it (about two cups), which was all I could stomach, and it gave me a buzz equivalent to a bottle of beer with the results being mostly incoordination as opposed to the "relaxation" effect kava is supposed to provide and that alcohol actually does provide without costing this much.
