1 out of 5 stars Nightmares   March 9, 2010
M. Vanderheiden (Misawa, Japan)
I started taking these vitamins when I first found out I was pregnant (at 5 weeks). I had to discontinue use when I started to get morning sick because it only exacerbated my nausea. In the throes of morning sickness, I started taking a multivitamin suggested by my OB. When I ran out of my OB recommended prenatal vitamin I was 8 months pregnant so I started to take the Rainbow Light vitamin again. Well, the nausea was gone, but I have had the worst nightmares and the most vivid dreams ever since. I can't directly blame the vitamin, but I do not have the vivid nightmares if I forget to take my vitamin. I haven't read about anyone else having this problem and my OB thinks that it is unrelated, but I wanted to share my story. I hope you have better luck with this vitamin than I did.

5 out of 5 stars Much better than their 6 pill Version   February 12, 2010
Jill M. Dudley
I love these prenatal vitamins. Unlike the ones I've used in the past (over the counter and prescription), these do not upset my stomach at all or make me constipated. I prefer the Prenatal One vitamin over its sister vitamin (the Prenatal System) which makes you take 6 pills a day.

3 out of 5 stars Read Great Reviews, Bought It, Worked for a Week or Two, Eventually Made Me Sick :(   February 8, 2010

I had found out I was pregnant on 12/31 and immediately researched the best-selling prenatal on Amazon.com. According to reviews, I saw that Rainbow Light was rated #1 as far as my research went (about two hours worth on Amazon). The product not only had great reviews but was only about $14.99 and had arrived less than a week after I'd ordered it. I was very grateful and excited to start my pregnancy 'journey' using Rainbow Light Just Once Prenatal Vitamins, ordered through Amazon.com and The Vitamin Shoppe.

I must say, I will no longer rely on reviews but on the product label itself. By this, I mean that I will in the future look at the tablet's CONTENTS before purchasing the product. This is because I had started taking Rainbow Light and, though they are what one would call horse pills, after about 1-2 weeks of taking these prenatals, I started feeling extremely nauseous. I took the nausea as a sign of the pregnancy itself but something in my intuition told me it was something more so I brought the bottle to my OBGYN.

My doctor informed me of some very important information regarding Rainbow Light, but did not try to convince me to stop taking them. She simply stated that Rainbow Light Just Once has 3 times the "preferred" amounts of certain Vitamins, such as Vitamin K (333%) and a few others that I cannot recall - I actually feel nauseous just thinking about it.

All in all, I know that this medication is what made me feel nauseous because I'd changed my prenatal (I shouldn't mention the new product name because this is a review for Rainbow Light), but I must say, the nausea has gone away DRASTICALLY. By this, I mean that I no longer wake up in the middle of the night feeling as if I'm about to get sick for no reason and most importantly, I do not feel sick mid-day. I still get my usual feelings of morning sickness on my new prenatal but that's it.

As it turns out, this product simply contains too much of the recommended doses of certain Vitamins. If your body can handle it, take it. Unless Rainbow Light paid people to write their product reviews, it is apparently possible and "okay" for you to take 3x the amount of a dosage of a vitamin, if your body can handle it. Be careful.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful!   January 23, 2010
LNS (Reno, NV)
I switched to these after trying a pill my Dr. gave me in the office (samples). After switching to these my morning sickness calmed down a bit and I was able to stomach these easier. I saw others complain about how large the pill is and I do not find them any larger than any other prenatal vitamin/multi-vitamin. I think they are great and I will most deffinately use them through my entire pregnancy. The ONLY down side is this vitamin does not have enough suggested DHA in it. My Dr. has me taking an Omega 3 vitamin (gel caplet) too. I am ok with that.

5 out of 5 stars Must Have!!!   January 23, 2010
Amber Longfellow (Tampa, FL)
I have never been able to take any kind of multivitamin (even liquid form) without feeling sick, and I have no problem with these. When I found out I was pregnant taking a multivitamin was one of my prime concerns. Rainbow light was actually recomended to me by a friend (who takes them not being pregnant). I have taken them with or without food, and at different times of day with no problem. Don't be scared to take a chance on these!!
