4 out of 5 stars Slightly smelly, but otherwise just great   November 18, 2008
S. Thompson (Georgia)
I am 7 months pregnant, and I've been taking Deva Vegan DHA for almost 2 months. While I am not a vegan/vegetarian, I am allergic to many types of fish, and it is best to avoid fish oil-derived Omega-3 supplements during pregnancy anyway due to concerns with heavy metal toxicity from the fish.

While there is no fish oil in these capsules, the algae in them does give them a slight fishy odor. Unpleasant, yes, but I've found it can be greatly reduced by storing the opened bottle in the refrigerator. I tend to take them in the mornings (right after my prenatal vitamin) with milk or juice to help with the slightly fishy aftertaste. Once swallowed, I don't have any problems with "fishy burps". Great product, and I feel confident giving them to my unborn son!

1 out of 5 stars Great product, don't buy from Amazon   October 13, 2008
H, D, and A's Momma (USA)
I have used Deva Vegan DHA for about two years. It's very expensive through my local health food store, but I love the product. When I saw that Amazon had a great deal, I signed up. I have received three shipments and I canceled this morning.

When I get the capsules from my health food store, they are nice and soft and liquidy. When they arrive from Amazon they are hard and whitish and it appears that the liquid inside has dried up.

Yuck.

I highly recommend this product ... just don't buy it from Amazon.

I like that the omega-3 oil isn't derived from fish. The capsules do have a very fishy odor though.

1 out of 5 stars caplets leak   September 9, 2008
Neal289 (LexPk, MD)
The price is great for algea source DHA but be warned, the caseing are like hard plastic. More than one capsule broke in every bottle I recieved, leaving the rest with a very non-apetising smell and taste. Tend to burp up more than other brand as well. I will stick with the Aqua Gels brand.

4 out of 5 stars Completely vegan!   September 5, 2008

Glad for a vegetarian capsule. The other DHA products I've seen have gelatin capsules - very frustrating for the vegetarian / vegan. I've only taken DHA for a few months, so difficult to measure it's effectiveness.
