A good and inexpensive supplement September 18, 2007 Kristina Thompson (Omaha, NE) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I was skeptical that these little white hunks of stuff resembling concrete could ever dissolve well enough to for calcium absorption to happen, so I did a little kitchen test. I dropped one tablet into 8 oz of pre-warmed vinegar to roughly replicate stomach acid. To my surprise, the tablet was mostly dissolved within five minutes, and all gone well before ten. The benchmark is that it should dissolve within 30 minutes. I've been taking one a day for a few weeks now and have noticed that the frequency and severity of those night-time calf spasms has decreased. My night-time acid reflux has also decreased, even though I stopped taking PPIs. My health is not a controlled experiment, but I believe that there might be a connection. I don't plan to rely on this supplement entirely for calcium--I plan to take one of these a day, start a can of sardines a day and take a calcium citrate late in the day.
