I placed several orders for Balance Bar Triple Layer Engergy Bars, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and love 'em. Expiration dates have always been several weeks away, but one month I ordered two separate batches and the later batch had the earliest expiration date. AND the later expiration date was the only box I have received that had a stale taste and texture. Go figure!
I would only recommend ordering these in the cooler months so they don't melt. I also use Amazon Prime, so they always arrive in two days. And I am cheap and wait for the sales!
I also like that the chocolate peanut butter ones are not too sweet. I think it is a bit of an acquired taste.
I am a skinny gal and use these as a snack to supplement my calorie intake (210 calories each), so I can't speak to using them for those looking for a meal replacement or part of a weight loss program.

how sad that this product has been changed. i use these bars as part of my weight control after losing weight last yr. i have been using them since last feb. it is easy to taste the difference. they now have a waxy taste to them. to bad.
A bit stickier than regular Honey Peanut June 7, 2008

I don't know what makes Balance Gold different from regular Balance bars, but we normally get Honey Peanut, which is a nice, dry, pleasant type of bar. This one is stickier and has a slightly more sugary flavor to it. We will probably not buy them again because only one person in the family likes it (versus all of us liking the Honey Peanut).

This bar was very sweet and has a slightly metallic aftertaste. The bar tastes a little better after a workout, but if you are using it as a meal replacement, drink plenty of water with it.

add some nuts and caramel and it would taste like a snickers bar. This is great if you like peanut butter. Balance Bars are the best tasting I have ever had.
